Reminds me of the movie, "Return to Gilligan's Island", in the movie Gilligan and the gang are rescued. Back on the mainland the Professor invents a frisbee, but, alas it had already been invented! (I use this story alot as it has lots of implications ;)) I also have another story along this theme. My muslim roomate needed to figure out which corner in our dorm room was closest to Mecca. Neither one of us had a compass, but she informed that some prayer rugs were sold with compasses. I called my Dad because he has an amazing sense of direction. After telling me which corner of our room was closest to Mecca, my Dad informed me that he had epihany and he was going to market prayer rugs with compasses! He got really excited, but I had to tell him it had already been done. I then related the above Gilligan's Island story. (I really do like that story). It's hard to have a truly original idea.
