WolframAlpha

I’ve discovered a new website that looks to be pretty darn cool. It’s called WolframAlpha and it analyzes input; anything from mathematical calculations, to astronomical objects, to countries of the world and produces an intelligent response to that input. Check it out here.

Blippr

with 2 comments

blippr-button-largeI have discovered a new social media outlet called Blippr.  Blippr provides an easy way to share your opinions about applications, books, games, movies, and music.

When you discover a book, movie, app, etc. that you have an opinion about you can login to blippr and write up a short (in 160 characters or less) critique of the product and “blip” your review.  When you post a review you will see what other people using blippr have had to say about the product, and if your friends and followers have “blipped” about the same subject matter, you will also see their take on the item you have reviewed.

I have only been blipping a few days but so far I have enjoyed posting my short reviews.  Blippr is free and fun.  Check it out at www.blippr.com.

Just Hear It

without comments

just-hear-itI found a new site that looks pretty darn cool called “Just Hear It“.  The site allows you to just type in the name of a song and hear the song in its entirety from your computer.  The site also allows you to create a playlist and listen to a list of songs.  I’ve tested the site a bit and it seems like the search more often than not finds the song I’m looking for.  The site is currently in private beta.  Anyone can access the site now, but private beta account holders have the additional ability to create and save a playlist so that it will be available on any computer they log into.  Check out the site here.

Chris Cabe the Inventor

with 5 comments

For those of you who don’t know, I’m an amateur inventor. Amateur as in I haven’t really had an invention that’s taken off. My inventions range from ‘cool, but I don’t know how to get it to work’ to ‘ah crap, it’s already been invented’ to ‘Okay, this might work but how do i get the ball rolling’. Continue reading »

Photoshop Express

without comments

I’m currently working on several different computers from day-to-day, and that being the case I’m beginning to work more and more with online tools that allow me to use programs that I might not have access to from one computer to another.

One such tool that I’m finding a need for but often don’t have at my disposal is photoshop. I work in photoshop to adjust images and most of the computers I have available to use don’t have photoshop on them. The solution that I’ve found and am currently experimenting with is Photoshop Express. Once you create an account you can upload and edit images all online.

I haven’t done a whole lot with it so far, but an account is free so give it a whirl if you ever need some image editing on the go.

Dropbox

I’m currently trying out a new online application called Dropbox.  You can install Dropbox on your PC (or MAC) and it integrates itself as a folder within Windows Explorer, making it very easy to drag-and-drop files into dropbox, whereby making those files accessible from the web.  To get to your files from a different computer all you need to do is go to www.getdropbox.com, log in and select the files that you would like to work with.  I’ve just used it for a few days but so far I’ve been happy with what I’ve seen.

This utility lets you set up reminders, to-do lists, send email, write blogs and more all with your voice. Seems like a neat idea…if it works…

Check it out here.
